I’ve mentioned a few times that I have the black thumb of baking. I know it’s hard to believe I don’t do this on purpose but I promise you I do not. Basically I’ve realized that I just don’t have the patience required to complete a baked good properly. Qualities like ensuring the ingredients are perfectly measured, are stirred to the correct consistency and then eyeing the oven as they bake away just don’t exist with my hustle and bustle personality. With that being said, a couple weeks ago I wanted to make some shortbread cookies. I had made them before in high school and remembered them turning out great and were actually quite easy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a recipe with ingredients I actually had (I have the bare minimum basics as I seldom bake). Finally I came across Simply Frugal’s Whipped Short Bread Cookies. They looked like a dream, and oh so easy with their three ingredients! I followed everything to a tee and remembered all the previous tips I’ve received like pre-heat oven is a must, make sure the consistency is perfect etc. This is how they turned out! Delicious eh? They were only in the oven for FIVE minutes; half the recommended time. Don’t ever listen to a recipe with three ingredients and a pretty picture.
Beware when things seem to good to be true, they are!
Although it was quite the disaster, I still ate the insides!
My apologies in advance for the photos, they are from my phone.
You’re welcome if I’ve made you feel a little bit better about your baking 😉
