A few months ago Olivia’s stroller was stolen right from our driveway in the middle of the day. I was devastated. Not only did I have severe anxiety over choosing the perfect stroller in the first place, the stroller is honestly a new mama’s lifeline. It is the only freedom you have besides someone else watching baby.
As fate would have it, the very next day, out of the blue a wonderful woman representing the Mamas and Papas brand connected with me in regards to a stroller review. How crazy! I couldn’t wait for the Armadillo Flip XT to arrive. Read my review below.
These images were taken the same day we got engaged! I hadn’t a clue and Beau’s mind was probably racing. The necklace I am wearing is one I sport often and it’s actually a teething necklace! It is made by a cute Canadian company called Elephant Shoe Teething Co and is made of 100% non-toxic, food grade, bpa, latex, lead, phthalates, PVC + cadmium free, eco-friendly silicone beads and natural wood. Olivia loves to play with it and I love how stylish it is.
I honestly love this stroller so much. It does not leave the trunk of my car so it goes everywhere I do. Leaving it behind is not an option. It is very light (making it easy to carry in and out of my large SUV), very compact (doesn’t ever feel bulky in the back or while in use) and is very easy to fold (very important). The front wheel lock option helps with control but the ability to have the wheels move freely along with it’s compact nature makes maneuvering through small spaces a breeze. The self standing feature is also a huge plus for me!
The adjustable handlebar makes it comfortable for both Beau and I to use and we have quite the height difference. I love how it has both the front and rear facing option but also how easy it is to switch between the two. It can also be folded easily no matter which direction it is facing which is awesome.
The seat itself feels so comfortable, like a cloud. But honestly, it feels as if it is a gel seat providing maximum comfort for baby. The seat buckle is also lined with a very soft and padded cushion for maximum comfort. The seat can be in a straight position (Olivia’s favourite because she has to see everything) but also lays completely flat. At first I found it a little strange how there are no “walls” to this stroller, but you get used to that. Plus, I usually have the canopy in use to some extent providing more protection.
The canopy is HUGE and definitely creates the armadillo look the stroller is named after. It has two viewing flaps to allow you to check on baby when the canopy is or isn’t in full use.

The puzzle piece buckle is a bit odd and does take some getting used to. I don’t entirely understand why it is used as opposed to a regular buckle, but once you get the hang of it, it honestly isn’t difficult.
You don’t know how valuable a large underneath storage basket is until you use a stroller that doesn’t have one. This stroller’s large basket is amazing. It fits my baby bag, blankets, shopping bags and so much more. It definitely is convenient.
I’m not certain this stroller would provide a smooth ride come our harsh Canadian winters but I haven’t been able to test this out yet. We have however taken it off the paths at a local park and through a forest on a walk. This stroller does travel through these terrains but we found the ride to be quite shaky and bumpy. If you are a very adventurous family frequenting rough terrain and speed I’d recommend getting a second hand stroller meant for such activities. I personally do have a secondary stroller committed to these tougher adventures.
Overall, I give this stroller two big thumbs up and do highly recommend it to friends and family looking for a versatile, light, convenient, comfortable and multi-use stroller.
