Thus far, everything wedding planning has been a complete hoot. I’m having such a blast curating our events and pulling inspiration for our big day.
First on the agenda (aside from our dreamy engagement photos found here) was our engagement party. As a new mom, I have zero time to do anything but ensure my child lives happily through the days, so I wanted to keep the event “simple.” At first (and only for a short minute), I wasn’t going to do anything themed. But once I started creating the invitations, my mind started spinning and my creative senses started escaping. I now wanted to have a pretty event. With that being said, I also knew realistically it still had to be very simple to create.
The location was always the backyard of my parents’ home so I used the scenery as the start of my planning. Immediately I wanted backyard games scattered across the property and suddenly a “White” theme (Hampton style party) stuck in my head. And that was that. Everything was to be white and everyone was to wear white (or as close to). The DIY consisted of the lace bunting hung around the property, engagement photos bannered in the tents, the signs, hearts on the cupcakes and the cake banner. Other than that we just had white tablecloths, some beautiful florals from the garden and some sparkly picture frames.
Honestly, the party felt like it was straight out of the O.C. (or as my Gossip Girl loving self likes to refer to, The Hamptons). I smiled ear to ear the entire time. I felt like I was in a movie and was just waiting on the video crews to arrive. The forecast was thunderstorms (how fitting for a white party…. eek) so we set up white tents with white lanterns and put up tarps where needed be and just crossed our fingers. Not a single drop the entire day!
My mom surprised us with a local singer to serenade us and it was such a magical touch! It was so perfect! The day flew by in a blink so I can’t even imagine what our actual wedding day will feel like. Of course our moms went wild on food (just like my flamingo baby shower you can see here). Our engagement party was the most magical send off into our wedding events and planning. I can’t wait to experience them all.
