May 8th we officially start the process with our wedding planner Katie from The Event Design co. We chose her month before package (which includes day of coverage) as I already had a very vivid image to my wedding day and actually enjoyed sourcing the right vendors, decor pieces and products for it to come to life. Being a very creative person, I thoroughly have enjoyed the process of everything I’m envisioning coming to life. With that being said, I don’t have any experience with ensuring everything goes off without a hitch. So instead of full event planning, we went with the support option (and it’s already shown it’s worth tenfold).
My wedding vision requires an amazing florist and what seems like a pocketless budget. My dreams of long garlands of greenery paired with blush and white florals like ranunculus, garden roses and peonies were really hard to come by in my local market. Katie to the rescue. It was her who introduced me to Indra from Plush Flowers, our now wedding florist. A wedding planner not even officially on duty, was able to source the perfect match.
Indra and I chatted on the phone and I sent her my vision. Basically a “if I had an unlimited budget, this is what I would want. But of course my budget is only “X.”” What I got back was nothing like any other floral vendor from my own hunt. An entire mood board equipped with my vision and all the puzzle pieces to getting there, including costs. I was floored, and immediately booked an appointment to travel to Mississauga and finalize the day.
Indra was nothing short of amazing. She was so inviting, hospitiable and positive that our meeting immediately started off on the right foot. We reviewed the mood board together in person and then disected all the flowers necessary for it to come to life.
Indra totally understood my vision. Her mood boards were virtually perfect but we reviewd some additional floral options she suggested to me and did a teeny bit of swapping. This was all done visually which is SO helpful when working with florals.
I was so comfortable with all of her recommendations and was very surprised when I left at how relaxed I felt. Every detail she showed me was the right one and there was nothing I needed to change from her first introduction (the centrepiece holders are perfectly rosegold, her ribbon idea around my bouquet sounds beautiful etc). There are even a few details I’ve left to her discretion.
The florist is an integral part to my vision for our wedding day so I am so excited to have Indra on board! I’ll probably share a little wedding vision post in the near future to give you a peak of what I’m looking at.
